In just 5 days I will be officially adult and I have very indefinite views on that. First of all, I will have so many rights, and I like it, of course. However, in reality, in our country the laws are not as strict, that's why nothing will change, despite maybe the opportunity to drive a car. Actually, the right to get a driving license is one of the main thing I am looking forward. Maybe because I can't see any other things changing. As to my feelings, I don't notice anything new in my personality. As to other people, I don't think that they will treat me differently because of the fact that I'm 18. What is sad about that, is that my parents, for sure, won't take me seriously as an adult. As to just the way I live, everything will stay the same. I will continue studying, I hope:) I will still live with my family, but on my own. And so on, and so on. However, I try not to think much about sad sides of being 18 year old, like responsibility, and I just wait to be 18 to drive a car and have a birthday party;)
Did you get your driver's license? In the U.S., you can get a driver's license at 16 in most states, so turning 18 means even less, even though it is when you legally become an adult and get the right to vote, join the military, and do a few other things.
ОтветитьУдалитьHappy birthday!) Despite I am still not 18 years old, I agree that it is just a number, which only gives some formal priviledges to you. Your true age is estimated only by yourself! Also, it may differ depending on the situation. Sometimes, I feel myself much more older than 17; but in other situations I can even return to childhood!
ОтветитьУдалитьAlso, in Russia you can receive your driving license in 17, but you are allowed to 'use' it only from 18.
Ksenia, I had the same strange feelings before my 18th birthday. I was absolutely lost among my thoughts, but very soon I realized that nothing special will happen. Everything will stay the same. I really hoped that my parents will think about me as an adult person. I have been an eighteen year old for about eight months and my parent’s attitude to me has changed just a little. As you know, for instance, they don’t allow me to go to Austria. The truth is that even in twenty years nothing will change. You will become just older. And that is all)
